Occupation (2010-ongoing) is an exploration of the many cities and towns I have lived in and travelled to: Bangkok, Buenos Aires, Calgary, Chicago, Edmonton, Lake Louise, Liverpool, London, Los Angeles, Milton-Freewater, New Haven, Niagara Falls, New York City, and Walla Walla. The series questions our assumptions about how photography functions as a documentary tool and/or as an artistic endeavour. What kind of proof can a photograph provide about how we lived in or experienced our surroundings? What happens when a photograph is firmly tied to a particular place and memory for one viewer but is entirely abstract for another?
