Fleeting Glance: a fast & dirty project took place Shoreditch Underground Station in London, UK in September 2011. In keeping with fast & dirty’s mandate, the recently refurbished Shoreditch Underground Station was the ideal venue to bring ten Canadian artists to a London audience for a three-day exhibition. The participating artists created artworks that explored themes of transience, temporality, portability, duration, and ephemerality.

All of the artworks for Fleeting Glance were transported to London in two suitcases from Edmonton, Alberta. During the exhibition, the suitcases used for shipping the work were placed in the centre of the gallery space. In accordance with checked baggage regulations, each artwork was packed to ship no larger than 10 x 14 x 4 inches and weighed no more than 8 to 10 pounds.

Founded in 2010 and run by Jennifer Rae Forsyth and Kristen Hutchinson, fast & dirty is an Edmonton based rotating collective of artists and curators that creates exhibitions and art events of short duration focusing on unusual environments and projects that challenge curatorial methods.
